Connectivity proves critical
The impact of COVID-19 is being felt globally. As we rapidly change our daily habits, internet connectivity is playing a critical role to ensure that we remain in contact with family, friends, co-workers, and classmates. Data gathered from the Plume Cloud shows the incredible changes that have taken place within the home network. The data illustrates the exponential increase in people working and learning from home (up 134% as of 30 March in Seattle for example). All of this provides valuable insights to help ISPs better serve their subscribers during these challenging times.

The results are in
A new industry survey published by Digital TV Europe reports that: "The in-home network could be a potential barrier to the adoption of advanced services and service providers have an incentive to optimize this to reduce churn and enable take-up of added value offerings." The results from the survey spanning hundreds of senior executives from 67 different countries, reinforced the importance that wireless connectivity has on the evolution of smart homes:
- **66%**feel it’s important for service providers to support the smart home
- **58%**believe a majority of customers will pay more for a premium Wi-Fi offering
- **32%**say that delivering a superior Wi-Fi experience is the single most important thing ISPs can do
